History of Perna Dental
In 1931 Dr. Alfonso A. Perna returned to his hometown of Binghamton, NY to set up his dental practice in the Capitol Theater Building. Dr. Alfonso A. Perna was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1929 and received further training at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1930. In 1941 Dr. Perna was forced to close his practice because his army reserve unit was called up for active duty just before WWII. In 1946 Dr. Perna returned to Binghamton and re-established his office on South Washington St. In 1955 Dr. Perna moved his office to its present location at 55 Oak Street in Binghamton. In July 1966 Dr. Alfonso J. Perna joined his father in the Perna dental practice. Dr. Alfonso J. Perna was a 1965 graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed the Edward J. Meyer Hospital Dental Internship Program in Buffalo in 1966. Dr. Alfonso A. Perna retired in 1978 and he died in 1981. In July 1994 Dr. Michael C. Perna joined his father in the Perna dental practice. Dr. Michael Perna was a 1993 graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed a clinical residency program at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY in 1994. We are proud to have provided 3 generations of care for the dental needs of our hometown community!
